Basic Computer Course (BCC 3months)

The course is designed to aim at imparting a basic level appreciation program for students and those who are very new to computers. Up on successfully completing the course, participant will able to the use the computer for basic purposes of preparing personnel/business letters, Entering and managing data on spreadsheets, create small presentations, browse & find information on internet (the web), working with e-mails etc. This will allow anyone who completes this program to understand the basic of computer skills and to use it for personal, Educational & small business uses as well.

1. Introduction to Computers: What is Computer, the types, the uses; Common components of computer, highlighting CPU, Input & output devices, concept of RAM & ROM, hardware & software including system software and application software separately.

2. Operating a computer- Windows: What is an Operating System; Popular Operating Systems; The User Interface, Using Mouse; Using right Button of the Mouse and Moving Icons on the screen, Use of Common Icons, Status Bar, Using Menu and Menu-selection, Running an Application, Viewing of File, Folders and Directories, Creating and Renaming of files and folders, Opening and closing of different Windows; Using help; Creating Short cuts, Basic settings (Date, display properties, File manager; Add & removal of windows components, printers, software; Common utilities.

3. Introduction to MS Word: Word Application; Opening and Closing of documents; Text creation and Manipulation; Formatting of text; Table Creation; Spell check, language settings, Shortcuts; Insertion Shapes & Pictures; Printing of word document.

4. Introduction to MS Excel: Excel Application; Manipulation of cells; Basics of Formulas; Editing of Spread Sheet, printing of Spread Sheet.

5.Introduction to MS PowerPoint: PowerPoint Application; Making Small Presentation: Creating Presentation; Preparation and Presentation of Slides; Slide Show.

6. Introduction to WWW: Concept of Internet; How internet works; Web browsers; Search engines; URL; Surfing the web.

7. Introducing E-Mail: Basics of electronic mail; Getting an email account; Sending and receiving emails; Accessing sent emails; Junk E-mails.

8. Basic Troubleshooting: Addressing to performance, freezing issue, internet trouble shooting, Blue Screen of Death; Sudden switch offs
